Paneling Process

Objective To elicit and report on the collective wisdom of a panel of experts and guests on specific topics and questions in computer and information security.

ParticipantsModerator (1)
Expert Panelists (30)
Guest Panelists (5)
FrequencyMonthly + Ad Hoc

ProcessThe ISFI Editorial Board will, in consultation with the Moderator, select a topic for the panel discussion. The Editorial Board and Moderator will then work together to draft a panel questionnaire. After a final draft of the questionnaire has been accepted by both the Editorial Board and Moderator, it will be placed on the ISFI web site for panelist participation. The Moderator will then email all appropriate panelists, informing them that the questionnaire is finished and ready for their scrutiny. After the panelists have all submited via the ISFI web site their responses, the Moderator will edit and compile the answers in a final report, which will be published on the ISFI web site after final approval from the Editorial Board.

ScoringTo promote a friendly competition among panelists and to provide non-panelists with a means for measuring their own expertise against that of the panel, a scoring system will be instituted. The Moderator will assess the answers given by the panel for each question and generate a scoring scheme. Partial credit will be given for answers deemed close to the perceived "correct" answer. The Moderator will decide the number of points each answer is worth with the maximum number of points being 100 for an answer. The typical questionnaire, therefore, will have a maximum possible score of 800.
